We were attempting to remove wallpaper that has been up for over 10 years in the kitchen. Imagine the print, flowing ivy with sperts of fruits trailing along the ivy! At the time, it was "it"! Today when we look at the wallpaper - I can't help but think "What was I thinking?" I did prime the walls prior to applying the wallpaper and sized the paper as well. I gently took one corner and attempted to peel the paper away from the wall no success. I lightly scored up the wallpaper with my paper Tiger. Be sure not to press hard, it will cut up the sheetrock underneath and will leave you with "scores" in the board.

My painter friend Tom had mentioned that he uses Fabric Softener to remove wallpaper - it's gel like consistency almost sticks to the paper and soaks in instantly! Soak the scored up wallpaper using a sponge and warm water. Allow that to sit for at least 10 minutes and repeat. Next, mix up one part of warm water with the same quantity of fabric softener - blend thoroughly, to form a solution. Using a sponge, saturate the wallpaper with the mixture. You can also use a paint roller to apply the solution. After 15 minutes of saturation, scrap off the wallpaper with a plastic putty knife. Clean the walls with a neutralizing solution and allow the walls to fully cure prior to application of any paints or new wallpaper.

Angie's philosophy is simple: take on projects that are affordable and easily achievable. Look for inspiration in magazines and make the projects your own. Hers are real projects for real people and they don't require you to have a background in art. Test
