Since I can remember, my Mom had this jewerly  box on her dresser and for years being the curious little girl, I would always open and try on all of the rings, bracelets and fancy necklaces.  As my parents have decided to move to sunny Florida, it was time to part with many different heartwarming items that have been in the family for a very long time.  This jewerly box was one of them!  These before pictures show the damage, wear and tear as well as loss of gloss on the finish.  Take a look -

As you can see, the box itself is in sturdy good condition, but needs a bit of TLC.  I have decided to keep it to pass on to my daughters as my Mom had given to me - and she even left my favorite necklace in it!  I lightly sanded down the jewerly box with a mild grade of sandpaper, wiped it off lightly with paint thinner.  I went with Rust-Oleum's Universal Metallic Aged Copper.  I love the glistening gold running throughout the paint and with the universal brand - you can basically spray it over any type of base - since I was not sure if this was wood or veneer I played it safte with the Universal brand.  I also found it great to spray the jewerly box with Universal because I did not have to move it at all...just sprayed at any angle and wow!  Check out how beautiful the finished project turned out - literally salvaged a beaten up old jewerly box that I now can pass along to my daughters - I'm also going to stick a little note in the box with the full story of how it ended up with me and so on!  Great treasures need to be kept a part of the family heirloom forever...just revamp them with a Rust-Oleum's Universal and those keepsakes with be passed on forever!
