I have been an avid user of the blue painter's tape for years, love the flexability of the tape, it's quick and easy to peel off the wall while the paint is wet - but felt like it needed to be more versitle for those "decorative" squares, pinstripes of designs of your very own. I was in Lowes and found a variety of new painter's tape. If you have a delicate project or half a wall with linen wallpaper and still need a bit of protection - I would recommend Scotch-Blue - which has low to medium adhesion and it will not damage your vinyl to linen wallpaper. Becareful on uncoated or foiled wallpapers - it may pull off the top layer. Run a test area first, behind a larger piece of furniture, etc. This will run you about $5 a roll. Frogtape is truly incredible - it has a special ingredient that turns the paint into a gel before it can bleed underneath - so you do get that super crisp line. With it's medium strength adhesive, it will not harm walls or woodwork. No wallpaper though! You can use this frogtape for up to 14 days outdoors and 21 indoors. One year shelf life. Runs about $6 a roll. For clean, straight edgey like pinstripes, I adore "The Green Tape" This tape can give you faux tile lines, all the way to the classic pinstripe of a suit. Will adhere up to 8 days - even in the sun - Will run you around $4 a roll. For your own creativity and stenciling - Razor-Edge Gold Tape. This allows you to cut and create your own edge, design or basic stenciling. You can even position and cut right on the wall - do not apply too much pressure! Low-Strength adhesive is great for wallpaper or cured paint. Can stay in place for up to 60 days - About $9 a roll - visit shurttape.com. For concrete and rough surfaces, Scotch Hard-to-Stick adheres to most anything! Do not leave on for more than 3 days, it will leave a residue behind- versitle enough for lacquered surfaces as well. Do not use on wallboard, wall coverings or finished wood floors. Will run you about $5 a roll. Jump on 3m.com for more info! Finally, For outdoor use only - High-Adhesion Scotch - it's a poly stucco tape which sticks to metal, vinyl as well as waterproof. Holds up to the sun for up to a month! This roll is around $8 a roll - same place - 3m.com.

So, keep an open mind and use the ease and versatility of these tapes to help you design out your fabulous "Sports Bar" applying Navy Walls with White Pin Stripes - Like the New York Yankees or Chicago White Sox - Run a Gingham Check in your kitchen above the soffet or keep a bold contempo grid in the family room for a dramatic change!
