I would say most of us have the basic taupe, beige or white paint on our walls. An easy way to add a bit of comfort and coziness is by adding a hint of color - be it through painting a focal wall or adding that perfect 8 X10 area rug in your family room. Be sure that the colors mesh and blend bringing warmth into that area. Choose a carpet that has an eye catching color scheme - allowing you to add a number of colors from that rug. A few cozy colors which blend as well as add an infusion of color are those crisp white walls - adding scarlet, periwinkle and coral. Don't allow the colors to engulf the room - add a small focal wall in the periwinkle, adding pillows with a floral pattern in scarlet and coral. You can add periwinkle to your window treatments, keep the white linen window treatments, but tie a silky periwinkle ribbon to a ready made rod pocket curtain. If your kitchen table is still worthy but your chairs could use an update, simply paint the chairs in a lighter shade of the periwinkle. You can go a bit more bold then cozy by adding simple splashes of scarlet in your den or family room. Add a bold scarlet blanket over your ottoman, striped and floral pillows in scarlet tones - a small vase scarlet roses or dried flowers can be adored on the side table. Coral for me is an in between red and orange and reminds me of the warm summer days on the beach - my favorite hue!! In a guest room or your master bedroom - coral pinstripe linen - larger checked pillows and paint your wall - the one with all of the windows a sherbert coral - this will allow the best of the morning sunlight in embraces the morning sun!
