Materials
Old wooden cabinet
Wire mesh
Staple gun (with staples of course)
Pots for herbs
Herbs, dirt, etc.
Drop cloth
Sandpaper
Damp cloth
Medium paint brush
Paint brush for dry brush or comb (optional)
Project Steps
Find a spot outdoors and cover nearby items to protect them from spray mist.
Spray the metal pot holders and the tops of your screws with Denim paint following application directions on the can. Set aside and let dry.
Lightly sand the wood cabinet and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Let dry.
Normally, we would recommend starting with the lightest color and moving to dark. Because the darker color is a spray in this case, and touching up the brush paint will be easier, we recommend starting with the Denim.
Tape off the outside of your cabinet and cover it with old newspapers or plastic wrap. Spray the Denim paint throughout the inside of the cabinet and let dry.
If you want to add a blue jean decorative effect, lightly brush the denim paint with a dry brush or a comb while the paint is still wet.
When the inside is dry, tape it off and cover it with newspaper. Brush on the whitewash paint to the outside of your cabinet following application directions on the can.
When your cabinet is dry, attach the painted pot holders with screws.
Fill pots with herbs and put them in their new home. (If you're in the mood, you can also paint plain terra cotta pots with the denim or white wash paints.) Enjoy your new cabinet and fresh herbs.
