Project Steps
Find a spot outside to spray paint. Cover nearby items with drop cloths to protect them from spray mist.
Remove glass from the frames and set aside. Sand the frames adn wipe clean with a tack cloth.
If youare working with new wood or something that has been painted a dark color, you may want to primer first. Follow the application directions on the can and let dry completely.
While the primer is drying, cut the mat board to fir inside the frames. Spray them with the Rust-Oleum Specialty Chalk Board paint, following the application directions on the can. Let dry.
Begin working on the frames by brushing on the base coat of the American Accents Distressed Ivory Kit. Let dry completely.
Once the frames are dry, use the sanding pad to distress areas of the frames that would normally see wear and tear, such as the frame edges. (The directions on the box will provide you with more detail, if needed.)
Brush on the antique top coat and wipe off with a paper towel or damp cloth. Let dry.
Insert the new chalkboards into the frames and write the names of your guests on each place card. If the frame is big enough, you can even write down part of the menu.
