I came up with five beautiful ideas to create modern wall decor myself, because modern art is just so expensive to buy. Anyone can do it, really. You can see all my ideas in this article.

My five ideas are: 1. Abstract painting, 2. Abstract Wood Painting, 3. Cloth Abstract Artwork, 4.Closeup Photography, 5. Abstract Driftwood Sculpture.

In the image here, you can see an example of a photograph of vases, which I painted with Rust-Oleum Metallic Brilliant Metal Finish. I then filtered the image with my photo software, then blow it up to form modern wall decor. The second photograph in the portfolio is an example of closeup photography.

Materials
To see all five ideas, please my article on creating your own modern wall decor.
Here's I'll talk about the ABSTRACT WOOD PAINTING
plywood
pencil
4 colors of wood stain, and festive RUST-OLEUM wood primer spray.
2x4 planks of wood to create a frame
rough cloth
Project Steps
This abstract artwork is earthy in tones. Instead of canvas take a slab of plywood. The more texture to the wood, the better. Cut the plywood to the size you wish this modern wall decor to be.
Condition the plywood with RUST-OLEUM wood primer. Once dry, take a pencil and draw abstract waves, to form a total of four distinct areas. Stain each wave in a different shade and even one on top of another, for added depth in your abstract artwork. Just be sure the bottom stain is dry first. The more you stain each wave, the darker it will be, which will make your modern wall decor more elegant.
Create a picture frame from 2x4 inch (or wider) wood planks wrapped in rough fabric.
You can also spray paint the rough fabric first, with the RUST-OLEUM color of your choice. Copper or Metallic Brilliant Metal Finish will be especially beautiful with this project.
This modern wall decor is perfect for a kitchen or dining room.
