My old kitchen cabinets had ugly, plastic hardware. I thought of replacing it, but I would have had to buy around 30 handles, and the cost really started to add up. So instead, I spray painted the existing handles with Rust-Oleum Metallic Brilliant Metal Finish. You can read step by step instructions in my article.

Also, you can read my full article about how I made my old kitchen cabinets look like new by painting them.

Materials
Rust-Oleum Metallic Brilliant Metal Finish
Painter's tape
Project Steps
First either remove the old hardware, or if it's hard to get off, cover the surrounding cabinet with painter's tape. Take into consideration that spray paint has a large radius of coverage, so protect at least ten inches of cabinet space around the knob or handle you are painting
Spray paint the knob or handle once.
Then, when the paint dries (after 15 minutes or so), spray paint again. If you wait and coat for a third time, the knob or handle will really look like metal, and the finish will become scratch resistant.
