I had a high window in my living room that looked beautiful with the trees and sky outside. But it also looked plain without a window treatment. So instead of blocking out the beauty with a regular curtain or blind, I created a beaded curtain for it.

I wrote a step-by-step explanation of how I did it in my beaded curtain tutorial.

Here I'll talk about the money saving tip I applied, using Rust Oleum paint

Materials
Rope
A broom stick or other wood strip
Cheap beads (don't worry about the color)
Project Steps
My tutorial has instructions about constructing your beaded curtain. Here I'd like to talk about the beads.
I realized that the most beautiful beads were expensive. The cheap ones came in gaudy colors and were... well, cheap looking. So I decided that I would paint my curtain when I was finished, using Rust Oleum Hammered Spray Paint.
I chose two colors, the copper and brown. After my curtain was put together, I hung it from a tree outside and spray painted, interchanging between the colors so they blended along the edges, but were still distinct in specific areas. Some tree leaves got paint too, but they didn't complain.
The curtain is really gorgeous.
