I took some old Danish style mid century chairs and painted them high gloss black and reupholstered the seat cushion with a black and white stripe.

Materials
Mid-Century Danish Style Chair
Sand-paper
Damp Cloth - for wiping down chair after lightly sanding.
High Gloss Black Spray paint
Staple Gun or Nail Gun
batting
Fabric upholstery
Screws
Drill
Project Steps
remove the seat portion of the chair and lightly sand the chair to get it ready to spray paint.
Wipe down chair after sanding with a damp cloth
Spray paint chair with high gloss black paint
The reupholster seat, remove any excess layers of fabric that may have been added over the original fabric, this way when you go to place the batting and fabric it doesnt leave such a thick bunch around the back side that you can't reattach the seat to the chair.
place a layer of batting over seat and pull fairly tight and staple around on the back, starting in the middle of one side then going across to the opposite side and staple in the middle, and follow this method around the rest of the chair
then do the fabric the same way you did the batting, watching that you don't have too much fabric bulked up in the corner areas where you stapled everything.
Now replace your seat using a drill and the screws you took out when you removed the seat.
And wha-la there is your chair!
