Materials
Heart pattern
Medium density fiber board or clear pine (pictured)
Jig saw
Old sheets or plastic drop cloths
Sandpaper
A small craft brush
Gold cord, glue gun, glue sticks, holiday ribbon from local craft store
Project Steps
Find a hear pattern that you like. Enlarge or reduce the pattern to the desired size. Or design your own heart pattern!
Choose a well-ventilated area (preferably outside) and cover nearby objects to protect them from spray mist.
Transfer the pattern by tracing around it onto your wood. Cut the pattern out using a jig saw.
Prepare wood surface with an all over sanding. Wipe off sanding residue with a damp paper towel and let dry.
Apply American Accents Primer (with love).
Follow instructions listed on half-pint of American Accents Colonial Red label. Wait specified time between coats while reapplying if your heart desires.
Crack open a can of American Accents Gold Metallic paint WITHOUT SHAKING it. Pour off half the solvent (top gooey stuff) so all that’s left is the pigment (color). which makes it a super thick gold.
When all the paint is dry, take some gold cord and hot glue it to the back of the heart (see picture for ideas). Finish the top off with a gold ribbon bow.
Hang on child’s bedroom door, give as a special Valentine gift or it also makes a nice sentiment for your child’s favorite teacher.
