A run of the mill laminate dresser was painted and distressed to make it a bit more exciting.

Materials
Fine grit sandpaper.
White Rust-Oleum Universal spray paint, two cans.
Brown spray paint.
Black spray paint, almost empty and splattering when sprayed.
Spar Varnish high gloss
Rough grit sandpaper
Project Steps
Remove hardware
Rough up finish with fine grit paper. Wipe clean with tack cloth.
Apply first coat of white paint. Let dry.
Apply second coat of white; while still wet, stand back and mist the edges of the top and drawers with brown paint, blend into white with a wet rag.
Whether wet or dry, stand back and splatter a small amount of black paint all over.
Let all paint dry. Taking sander with fine grit, sand edges to wood in the areas the dresser would normally get use. Lightly scratch up the sides with rough sand paper.
Apply two coats of high gloss Spar varnish, drying between each coat.
Replace hardware.
